Let Bygones Be Bygones
by Michael Feeley
WHAT DO THESE words mean – Let Bygones be Bygones.
Speak it out and feel the meaning – Bygone – Bygone – ByGone.
See the division of the word – by… gone – where something is left in the past – gone by.
You make a choice to say goodbye to a conflict or offense and to move forward with the hope and intention to start fresh and not give in to old gripes and anger.
– Forgive and forget
– Bury the hatchet
– Smoke the peace pipe
– Kiss and makeup
– Hold out the olive branch
– Carry no malice
– Wipe the slate clean
It’s a kind and decisive choice to forgive, and for it to work, you have to mean it.
It takes work and commitment to forgive.
You must be a relentless critic of yourself in your mind, heart, words, and actions to be completely fair and different to others and have steady goodwill.
You must take responsibility for your self. No slipping up or playing around with the truth of – Let Bygones Be Bygones.
The choice for change also includes groups of people who give themselves permission to bully, harm and hate.
The choice for forgiveness begins with you.
You must hold yourself and your organization accountable for your choices. It is the only way change will happen
between people.
Let Bygones Be Bygones – is seeing and acting on a better way forward, and it offers genuine peace, trust, dignity, and happiness.
