You Are Never Alone
by Michael Feeley
You may be sitting by yourself right now, reading these words. But are you truly alone?
The chair holds you. The air moves through you. Somewhere nearby, a neighbor exists, a store waits, water runs. The world is not outside you — it is in you, and you are in it.
These words you are reading were written by a living mind, filled with feeling and intention. That mind is now inside yours. We are together in this thought.
The trees, the ideas, the food that built your body, the language that carries meaning between us — none of this is separate from you. It surrounds you, supports you, and travels with you wherever you go.
And consider this: every person who ever shaped you — a teacher, a stranger, a voice from a book read long ago — still lives somewhere inside you. You carry them. They are not gone. They are with you.
You can be by yourself. But alone? Never. Not really. Not truly.
Solitude is real. Aloneness is an illusion.
The world does not withdraw from you. It remains. It holds. It accompanies you into every room, every silence, every ordinary moment of your one extraordinary life.
Self and World. World and Self. Always together.
