What the World Needs Now
by Michael Feeley
Start small. Start honestly.
What do you love? Really love — not as a concept, but as a felt thing in your chest?
Fourteen years ago, I stopped waiting for the world to make sense and went after my best life. I moved to a small Caribbean island, and I built everything around three words: Peace – Love – New Beginnings.
Not as a bumper sticker. As a strategic life plan with logic and a profound heart.
Maybe for you it starts with a piece of music. You hear the first four bars, and something in you goes quiet and full at the same time. You don’t explain it. You just know. And almost immediately, you want someone else to hear it too. That impulse — listen to this — is love in its most instinctive form.
Go wider. You love a book that cracked you open. A meal that tasted like belonging. A place that made you feel, inexplicably, like yourself. A friend who tells you the truth. A partner who sees you whole.
These are not small things. These are the architecture of a life and with love.
Love is a feeling that happens to you. It’s also a practice you choose. It’s curiosity about another person’s world. It’s sitting at an unfamiliar table and saying, ” Tell me about this.” It’s seeing a stranger’s grief and recognizing it as kin to your own.
Can love end wars? Contempt starts them. Indifference sustains them. Every time one human being genuinely sees another — across culture, belief, border — something shifts.
Love is the most radical, logical, universal choice a human being can make. It is also the oldest truth we keep forgetting.
It won’t always be easy. Love requires courage — the willingness to stay open in a world that keeps giving you reasons to close. But here is where you start: choose one person, today. Someone you know, someone you’ve lost touch with, someone you’ve never spoken to. See them. Really see them. That is enough to begin.
Choose it anyway.
