Say Yes to Opportunity
by Michael Feeley
That invitation you just received? Someone saw something in you that perhaps you’ve overlooked. They’re not offering charity—they’re making a bet on your capability.
We decline opportunities for elaborate reasons: not qualified enough, timing’s wrong, something better might appear. But strip away the rationality and what remains? It’s pure resistance. Fear dressed in logic’s clothing.
Here’s what we need to remember: every success in your past began as an opportunity that felt slightly too big. You said yes anyway. You figured it out. You delivered.
Say no repeatedly and watch what happens. Your world shrinks. The invitations stop coming. You lose the muscle of courage, creativity, and the capacity to surprise yourself. You become someone who plays it safe—and safe is just another word for stuck and hiding.
Saying yes when you’re not “fully ready” isn’t reckless. It’s how growth actually works.
The opportunity before you exists because someone believes you can handle it. Their confidence isn’t misplaced—your track record proves it.
Why not trust the person who trusts you—and trust the world that brought this to your door? Trust yourself.
Say yes. Then become the person who deserves that yes.
