Out of My Hands
by Michael Feeley
SOMETIMES, THINGS ARE out of your hands, and you need to trust others – trust the world – to help make whatever is happening right and good.
By trust the world, I mean…
> Trust teachers that your beloved son or daughter will be cared for when you send them off to school for the first time.
> Believe in a doctor’s skills to perform a superlative heart valve operation on the love of your life.
> Be confident your editor will organize the words of your treasured book into the dream volume you know it to be.
> Hold faith that war will end and hostages – children, women, and men – will be free without harm.
> Have assured reliance that we can heal the earth and fight climate change.
You can see that trust is a choice, behavior, attitude, and belief for each of us and others.
Trusting the world includes whatever it takes to give you peace – prayers, meditation, support from family and friends, expressing gratitude out loud and in writing, and being deeply interested in other people’s lives, thoughts, and feelings.
Let’s trust the world that all will be well in our hands and the hands of others because we believe in kindness, honesty, strength, character, security, ethics, justice, abilities, goodwill, and the truth.
