Your Vaulable Skills
by Michael Feeley
Here’s a question worth sitting with:
What are your skills? Not your job title — your skills. The abilities you’ve built through practice, repetition, and time.
Another way in:
What do people value in you?
What do they pay you for, seek you out for, trust you with, and thank you for?
That’s your answer.
Mine: Caring, creativity, service, organization, showing up.
This isn’t a small exercise. AI is already challenging, sometimes replacing, the work people built careers on. Knowing your real skills, the ones that are genuinely yours, is no longer optional. It’s how you stay valuable, visible, and hard to swap out.
So don’t be vague. Don’t be modest. Name your skills, out loud, specifically. Then ask yourself:
Are you using them, sharpening them, or letting them quietly erode?
