On Your Terms
by Michael Feeley
“On My Terms” are words that show you have a choice, you’re making a decision, and you’re taking action for yourself about something.
Usually, it’s about living your life as you want –“I’m living my life on my terms.”
We also live according to laws, rules, and cultural and social standards.
– A red light at an intersection means staying and waiting for a green light so you can safely drive.
– Food shopping after 9 pm is hard to do when the store closes at 7 pm.
– When you work for a company with a boss, you can’t always do what you want.
– Personal relationships are not a one-way street but a working together for happiness.
Many examples present social actions and conditions we can choose to live by or not, which is also on your terms.
