Change Something and Make It Work
by Michael Feeley
IF SOMETHING IS NOT working for you, make a change so it does.
Dick Fosbury – a high jump gold medalist in the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico, invented a new way to cross over
the high bar – back first.
He had trouble successfully jumping the standard way, and during high school and college, he worked at new approaches, practicing the science and art of his jumping skills. Eventually, he did it and even gained more height. Now, the ‘Fosbury Flop’
is a standard high jump technique. He transformed the sport.
We all have this opportunity and capacity to create change and discover the new. To invent – innovate – improve our lives, and work in some way and other people’s lives.
Look at electric cars and transportation.
Solar power.
Recycling.
Artificial Intelligence reads X-rays and contracts with great accuracy and speed.
Banking online.
Frozen foods.
Cell phones.
Earning a college degree from your home computer.
What changes do you notice, and why do they matter?
Where have you created a change that works?
