Simply because you do not know a person doesn’t mean they and their work do not have value.

How is your work any less valuable than that of sociologist and life coach Martha Beck, pianist Yuja Wang,  the founder and CEO of Thrive Global Arianna Huffington, contemporary painter Kara Walker, and writer Michael Cunningham.

Yes. These people have skills and have worked hard in their vocations; they are well-known and also lucky to be where they are. They weren’t born with a body of work or a standout name. They consistently showed up as professionals who studied, strived to do their best, and still do.

What if Oprah didn’t interview celebrities but chose to interview unknown people with a body of work in their professions – sincerely asking why they do their job and what effect they hope to achieve?

How ready are you to say who you are and speak about what you do and why?
