Appetite
by Michael Feeley
A kid on a skateboard, chasing one more trick before dark.
A gamer, chasing one more level before sleep.
Reading always and late into the night.
Same fire. Different fuel.
We call it a phase when a child is involved. We call it passion when it’s an adult. It’s the same thing: appetite. The hunger to want something enough to chase it.
I have an appetite for living itself — waking up curious about what the day will ask of me.
Appetite for justice, because indifference is its own kind of death.
Appetite for art and classical music, for the way a brushstroke or a chord can say what words can’t.
Appetite for fashion, interior design, conservation, for helping others — because giving is its own hunger, quieter than taking, but just as real.
Appetite is not something to diet down or apologize for. It’s proof of life. The day you stop wanting is the day something in you goes still.
Tell me what you hunger for, and why?
Read your life the way you’d read a menu — scan every offering, then choose only what will truly satisfy you.
