Adversity – Advantage or Disadvantage?
by Michael Feeley
ADVERSITY CAN HAPPEN at any time. It’s a hardship of some kind, a fight, grave unhappiness, misfortune, self-doubt, physical, emotional, personal, professional, financial.
Help yourself. Take action, and choose to see adversity as an advantage, not a disadvantage.
Courage in the face of adversity is one vital advantage that opposes the choice to cave in and not strive to recover.
Find the positive – the add-vantage – in your troubled circumstances. It may not be easy, but shifting things and moving forward is possible.
Decide to be a survivor. Create a mind and heart-set that helps you overcome the trauma you feel.
Be resilient and resourceful. Dig into your values and beliefs, and let them help you stand strong because you are stronger than you know.
Embrace your gratitude. What makes you happy, gives you comfort and peace?
What options and strategies can you create to succeed in the avalanche of adversity?
Study your vantage. Where are you, and where do you want and need to go?
Knowledge is an advantage. What can you learn from adversity?
How can you change your attitude toward the world and see what is happening as for you, not against you?
Who else has gone or is going through what you are experiencing?
Who can you count on to help you?
Where can trust yourself?
How can you trust the world?
It sounds unbelievable, but you can be grateful for the adversity in your life.
Maybe adversity will teach you compassion, patience, kindness, never to judge, mock, or be superior and cold
to the feelings of others.
You find out who you really are when you face adversity. You also have the opportunity to decide how you want to live in the world and treat your fellow man.
