A Bud Takes a Risk
by Michael Feeley
TWO THINGS APPEARED to me today: seeing new growth on a Bread Fruit Tree and the words of French – Cuban – American writer Anais Nin.
A large plant bud caught my eye (a nugget of newness) folded tight and relaxing, opening, growing into a branch or blossom and maybe a piece of fruit.
The leaves are beautiful and generous! Deep green, firm, spreading out like a giant hand.
And then I remembered Anais Nin’s words I’ve treasured for a long time and always felt they are about me growing and blooming in my life and work. So I’m happy to share them with you:
“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”
– Where have you felt this risk in your life?
– Where has creativity and taking bold chances to share your work and ideas – your ‘self’ – with other people and the world made you feel like a vulnerable and empowering flower bud?
Look at the world around you – What messages of encouragement and learning are being sent to you?
This is nature and life as one thing. Potential – Freedom – Connection – Openness – Daring – Change – Choice – Growth – Courage – Beauty – Trust – Evolution – Truth.

I think this will also inspire you – I AM – My True Self.
