You Have Gratitude – Express It
by Michael Feeley
You have gratitude, so please express it. It’s not IF you have gratitude. It’s a fact. You have gratitude, and you have it all the time. You just need to express it, and you should.
You might be grateful for your life, grateful to a person, an object, an event, or an emotion. All these things add to our well-being if you let them.
Right now – choose something you’re grateful for. Speak it out loud and write it down.
“Today I’m grateful for____________________________.”
Keep going. Name three more things you are grateful for. Make it a gratitude roll.
How does expressing gratitude make you feel?
Does sharing gratitude have a good effect on you – a bad effect – or no effect at all?
Gratitude is not lightweight woo-woo fluff. It’s powerful scientific stuff.
Harvard University says gratitude is beneficial to your health – mental and physical – and the welfare of society. Gratitude makes your life better. It promotes kindness, compassion, and the desire to help other people. (I trust Harvard on the science of gratitude.)
Practice gratitude. Be deliberate. Consistent. Cultivate it. Grow it. Have some deep, good play with gratitude. Make gratitude a habit – a positive addiction you love and have no intention of kicking because it makes you strong.
