You Do Not Need to Feel Lonely

WE ARE CONNECTED to everyone and everything because we live on the same planet – different places, cultures, and traditions, along with similar hopes, fears, and dreams.

I live in the Caribbean and can imagine a person waking up in France, working in Peru, walking on a San Diego beach, and riding the Swan boats in Boston Commons. These strange and familiar things are in my mind and heart.

I can think of giraffes on a penthouse roof in New York City – ballerinas doing pirouettes on glaciers – mushrooms growing on the Sahara Desert – Shakespeare writing Hamlet.

There is light and dark in me like the sunrise and sunset – high and low like the mountains and the valleys – hardness and softness in my bones and tissue – plans and surprises – hidden and shown – continuity and disruption – warmth and coldness – calm and fury…

You do not have to feel lonely because the entire universe is inside each of you.
