You Are Relevant

by Michael Feeley
We are all in the system of aging.
From the moment we are conceived, we begin to age. We have a beginning and an end, and we can work to maintain our health and stay as youthful and relevant as possible.
As the systems around us change (especially with technology and AI), we can feel we are no longer relevant. We might be forced to retire or even lose jobs and, God forbid – be labeled irrelevant. Age doesn’t mean we are finished dreaming, creating new acts, and giving more encores.
No matter what the status quo, other people, and your inner critic tell you, you and all your knowledge, life experience, and skills are relevant.
You matter. You are important. You are pertinent and valuable to the world.
Challenging yourself and your beliefs is one way to stay relevant and true to yourself.
– Keep setting goals.
– Build meaningful relationships.
– Ask for help when needed.
– Keep learning and being curious.
Three quotes come to mind that always inspire me as I age:
1. “The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are, and that privilege doesn’t expire with age.” – Carl Jung
2. “You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.” — C.S. Lewis
3. “Dreams don’t have an age limit.” – Michael Feeley
