What and Who Supports You?

by Michael Feeley
We are all supported by things and people.
The Earth and gravity support us.
Air, water, and food support us.
Our work, a paycheck, home, attitudes, beliefs, values, skills, knowledge, ambition, colleagues, friends, family, partners, doctors, accountants, teachers, a person who held a door for you, someone who smiled at you, a person who cared enough to listen to your struggle and questions, and all kinds of people, services, and products support us.
Once you understand this idea, you feel grateful, and it helps you see that needing support is something to be proud of, to value, and not be ashamed of.
Our interdependence on things creates pride and lessens vulnerability and fear. It’s a strength, not a weakness, to count on things and acknowledge what we need and want.
What and who supports you?
What are you grateful to need?
