We Are All Connected
by Michael Feeley
You are never alone.
Even on the quietest morning in the most remote place, you are woven into a web of people who shape you, need you, remember you, and are changed by knowing you.
Think about who you are connected to right now.
Friends who know your history. Colleagues who respect your work. Clients who trust your judgment. A partner who sees you whole. The mentor who said something twenty years ago that you still carry. The stranger whose kindness landed at exactly the right moment.
Connection doesn’t require proximity. It requires meaning. Empathy. Caring.
But why do we join with others?
What pulls us toward certain people and holds us there?
Shared beliefs.
Integrity that matches our own.
Creativity that sparks something in us.
Respect freely given and returned.
Encouragement that arrives exactly when we need it most.
Business built on trust rather than transaction.
And kindness. Always kindness. It is the foundation beneath everything else.
The people I count on — truly count on — are people I can trust completely.
And trust is not given. It is built. Slowly. Honestly. Through showing up. Being sincere.
Connection at its best is five things: connect, contribute, cooperate, collaborate, and commit.
Drop any one of those and the relationship weakens. Honor all five and something lasting gets built.
You are never just in a relationship. You are building one. Every single day.
It also means walking away for those that don’t count and cannot be trusted.
Make it count.
