Vintage Value V V
by Michael Feeley
We know vintage when we see it.
A watch. A car. A bottle of wine. A jacket that fits in a way nothing new ever quite does. Silver that has been passed down. Plates that have fed three generations. We don’t dismiss these things because of their age. We seek them. We pay more for them. We understand — without being told — that what has lived through time is rarer and more valuable than what arrived yesterday.
So why don’t we apply that same instinct to people?
Vintage Value – V V – is the mark a human being earns by living fully and deeply. Like the hallmark stamped into fine silver. Like the initials fired into the base of a great piece of pottery. Like the signature in the corner of a painting. It certifies something real. The accumulated weight of knowledge, skill, experience, expertise, failure survived, successes celebrated, and wisdom earned.
Vintage is not old. Vintage is Valuable… V V.
A vintage object sits on a shelf, admired. A vintage person (a living presence) sits at the table and changes everything.
That person may be you.
Your life experience is not behind you. It is you. Your V V is real, earned, and irreplaceable. Don’t discount it before someone else gets the chance to know your vintage value.
Vintage Value – V V is not a courtesy we extend to older people. It is a recognition of who they actually are — and what you may already be seeing with respect and dignity. Honoring their entire being – mind, body, and spirit.
Treasure them. Treasure yourself accordingly.
