The Weather Does Its Job
by Michael Feeley
LIKE GRAVITY, THE WEATHER is here. It does its job whether you like it or not. Weather is a gift.
It rains.
It snows.
It gets hot and cold.
It’s sunny and cloudy.
It might rain on your wedding day… the weather is just doing its job.
The weather will not change for you, but you can change for the weather.
Look at climate change. Our actions have a big effect on the weather, and each of us must take responsibility for that and change how we use the world – what we put into the air, sea, and earth.
We count on the weather as we count on air and food to live.
The sun is a vital part of life – energy, seeing, growth to help us live well.
Sometimes I think the weather is fiercely critical of how we live and sends us hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, Tsunamis’, draughts to say – “Wake Up! Change! Be kind. Have respect. Stop wars – hatred – greed – the profit system – discrimination!”
Again – The weather does its job.
What will you do to help the weather?
How can you be grateful for the benefits of rain, wind, water, heat, light – some of our primary human treasures?
Thanks – Michael (he, him)
