The AI Revolution

by Michael Feeley
Revolutions are about change. Involving a specific kind of change that makes a difference in the political, social, and organizational structures.
It’s also a sudden change. Perhaps an ‘overthrow’ or an ‘uprising’ that contributes to the shift that a revolution brings about—the desire for something new and better for people.
Think about the American Revolution, the French Revolution, and the Russian Revolution. Each involved overthrowing monarchical rule. To establish natural rights, freedom, and equality.
The Industrial Revolution also brought about changes in how people lived, worked, and learned, transforming society from an agricultural, handcraft-based economy to one dominated by machine manufacturing and increased production.
It changed daily work routines, family structures, transportation, communication, and the relationship between people and their environment.
Then there is the computer revolution, with the internet and cell phones, that enables us to connect to an abundance of knowledge and other people all around the world in a fast and convenient manner.
It includes AI (artificial intelligence), which is changing things, and it seems as if it is here to stay, just like email.
The AI revolution also offers each of us choices and opportunities for change.
We can choose to learn about AI, recognize its benefits, and understand how it can be an asset to us both personally and professionally. Alternatively, we can be afraid of AI and become complacent, sitting by and waiting for someone or something else to manage us and tell us what to do. The monarchy did that to people in America, France, and Russia.
Why not be part of the AI revolution? Embrace the knowledge. Start exploring it and learning about it. Understand it. Welcome change.
Try these 3 simple steps to start understanding AI:
1. Google ‘Claude’ and set up a Free plan. (It takes one minute.)
2. Then enter a specific prompt (ask a detailed question):
“In one or two paragraphs, explain how the American Revolution, the French Revolution, and the Russian Revolution are the same.”
3. Next try asking:
“Is there such a thing as the AI Revolution?”
See what happens.
Give yourself permission to learn AI. Stop making excuses. The AI revolution is happening whether you join it or not—but only you can decide if you’ll be empowered by it or limited by your lack of action and desire to learn.
I’m new to AI, and I’m loving the possibilities I’m discovering. Once I didn’t know anything about email and now it’s an essential part of my life. The same with taking photos on my cell phone. Excellent pictures.
The question isn’t whether AI will change our world—it has already done that and continues to do it right now. The question is whether you’ll be the one controlling that change or the one controlled by it.
