Talk about You

WORD OF MOUTH – people talking about you, your products, and your services – is the greatest and most effective marketing tool I know.
And with that is building a permission-based marketing list where people have given you permission to contact them with news and information about you and your work. There are no costly mass mailings or ads – no spamming, interrupting, or disturbing people with unwanted sales material.
The same is true for social media – having connections to real people you know who follow you with respect and gratitude.
It could be 500 – 1000 – 2000 contacts, which might be all you need for your business to prosper. It’s called your smallest viable audience – SVA. It’s a careful, caring, generous strategy to own and grow.
I’m talking about marketing yourself to people, not at people – your people – your followers – audience – clients – customers – people you serve who trust you and value your work. They tell their tribes about you because they know you are worth it. They believe in you, like you, and how you solve problems for them. And when they send you new customers, their personal status goes up.
So when a person says let’s run ads, you have to consider the cost and time and the return on investments – ROI – if you commit to ads, which I’m often against.
Informing people in other ways costs you nothing but time to create and send out. The work is challenging, and it works very well.
The work, goals, and creativity are your choice and probably your passion. It’s why you do what you do.
