Take the High Road
by Michael Feeley
I take the high road. Every time. It is not surrender — it is strength. When someone is mean, selfish, or small, the easy thing is to match them. The hard thing, the right thing, is to stay yourself.
This idea has never failed me. Not once. The high road asks for patience, not silence. It asks me to act with fairness even when fairness is not returned. I don’t excuse what is despicable. I simply refuse to become it.
Difficult people test character. They don’t have to define it. So I choose the longer path, the steadier one. I walk past the noise and keep my integrity intact.
The high road can be narrow. But it always leads somewhere good.
