Sudden Jasmin and Gratitude
by Michael Feeley
THIS MORNING I was taking out the trash, and suddenly I was hit with the sweetest smell of wild Jasmin. The surprise scent made me smile and relax with instant gratitude. (I also thought about the fact that we each have trash and sweetness in us. What a combination!)
Then I was watering four Caribbean blue flower pots, up the side of my steps, with herbs growing in them.
With my left hand, I combed my fingers through thyme, and what a warm, spicy, agreeable scent remained on my hand.
With my right hand, I rubbed my fingers on the leaves of creeping rosemary and smelled a strong, super fragrant, pine-like aroma with a hint of mint.
What magical gifts our senses are helping us to know the world and ourselves better and bring out such simple happiness.
