Service with a Smile
by Michael Feeley
THERE’S IMMENSE PLEASURE in serving and helping people and… hard work.
It can be thrilling to be creative and make things happen – going beyond what a person expects when they hire you.
Isn’t that how it should be – being happy in your work, even if it’s back-breaking labor that requires heavy lifting, such as delivering lumber, propane gas tanks, and heavy packages?
Piety does this here on the island of Saba. He is a reliable, strong man happy to help you with your delivery needs.
It’s a choice to offer good service – solve problems – and get results that make others happy.
That’s what ‘service with a smile’ means.
It’s the passion and spark that ignites an excellent customer service experience.
It’s a simple, caring gesture that lights up every aspect of a business, from the CEO to the person answering the phone.
It has customers remember you and keep returning for your services long after they finish shopping and they tell others.
It’s an entirely different service than the person who lets you know you’re interrupting their life, and
they do not want to help you.
