Self-Reinvention

by Michael Feeley
I have changed jobs a few times, reinventing myself from a professional actor to a headhunter, and have been working (for the past 16 years) as a career and life coach.
I changed some jobs because I wanted more, and at other times, I had to, as I lost my job and needed to earn money to live.
Some changes were emergencies, and others, I had some time to figure out what I wanted to do.
Throughout all my self-reinventions, I have consistently sought to do work that matters to myself and others.
Much of my work has been based on my dreams, plans, and goals, which have driven my life, including my career. Changing and reinventing into my true self. The life I was meant to live. My destiny in life and work.
Now, I’m in my 70s, and I’m doing what I want. Thriving… I’m not done yet! There is more to come for me to do and give.
I’ve just written a book (another big dream come true), expressing my expertise and passion for helping people aged 50–60–70–80+ who are not ready to retire and continue to move forward. After all, mature people still have many more encores to offer the world because their lives and skills genuinely matter.
Where have you reinvented your ‘self’?
How does maturing affect the way you see your work?
P.S. My book is: The Next Act – A Complete Guide to Career Change, Professional Reinvention, and Finding Work That Matters.
