Sales Interruptions with Honesty and Care
by Michael Feeley
OFTEN I’M INTERRUPTED by noisy, disrespectful “marketing sales emails” that insult my website and work,
telling me how this person can help me earn better placement with search engines and get new clients.
They insincerely write – “Hope you are well…” – and then tear apart my website, never having one positive thing to say.
Why would I work with or trust someone who lacks empathy and beats me down?
I always reply – “Please remove me from your list. Thank You.”
Truth and honesty work best in sales instead of tricks, something like:
“I need your help. I’m looking for work so I can make a living. We do not know each other, but I believe I can be useful to you and your services.
Please give me an opportunity to speak with you for 5 minutes to earn your trust and see if we can work together.
If I’m not right for you, if I can’t help you make the positive changes you want, solve problems you may have, and make things better, you will never hear from me again. Thank you. “
It’s different from hustling and coercion.
It’s the choice to serve – to be generous – to understand who your customers are and what they truly want, and
to work with integrity.
