Renew Daily
by Michael Feeley
There’s a crucial difference between repetition and routine. Repetition with renewed awareness is intentional – choosing again, fresh each time. Routine becomes autopilot, where we’re physically present but can be mentally elsewhere.
We do things repeatedly in our daily work. The question isn’t whether we repeat – it’s how we show up when we do.
Think of musicians practicing scales daily. The scales don’t change, but their presence does. That’s renewal.
When we renew daily, we’re re-committing. We’re saying, “I choose this again. I bring my whole self again.” Not because we have to, but because we remember why we began. What we hope to accomplish.
Ask yourself: Who are you in your work? What do you represent? It’s present tense. Today. This moment.
The people who depend on you – clients, colleagues, customers – aren’t expecting your exhausted leftover energy. They’re looking for what you bring when you’re fully present: the person who cares, who pays attention, who shows up with active purpose.
Renewal is pausing long enough to remember why this work matters. To reset your focus. To begin again, awake. Fully present.
Not thoughtless actions, but your true, happy, productive self.
Begin again today.
