Personnel – Personal – Person

by Michael Feeley
Some of the work I am proudest of is helping people find jobs, earn a living, and do work they love.
I was a headhunter for 20 years in New York City. I worked in personnel with staffing companies, placing people in temporary and permanent jobs in various industries and helping companies find the best-qualified people for jobs they were trying to fill.
People were my business They still are.
The person is the most vital element to think about and care for. Yes, they may be candidates and applicants, but first, they are people—human beings with full, rich, complex, and interesting lives filled with emotions – hopes, fears, dreams, ambitions, doubts, challenges, failures, successes that add up to profound value.
People are not commodities from which to merely place and earn money. Yes. Headhunting is a job, but working with another person and assisting them in finding work is personal. It’s different from booking a seven-day cruise from Venice to Nice. It takes empathy, emotional labor, and commitment to care for another human being with professionalism and integrity, including your heart. We must combine and honor both personal and impersonal.
The person is the priority. You can see it in the words:
Person – nell
Person – al
Person – ality
Person
Please let us not use labels to prevent us from valuing humanity first in any way or profession.
Let us not limit kindness and understanding from person to person.

Please share this Daily with your tribes.
This is also crucial – Respect.
