Every cell in your body carries the same code. All of it. But not all of it runs.

Genes switch on and off — not by chance, but by signal. Diet. Stress. Connection. Purpose. Scientists call this epigenetics: the environment doesn’t rewrite the code; it decides which parts of the code get read. Same DNA. Different expression. The difference is what you feed it.

I think we carry a second code the same way.

Remarkable. Generous. Mean. Kind. Careless. Indispensable. Treacherous. Extraordinary.

Not traits you have or don’t have. Sequences waiting for the right signal to express. And the signal isn’t luck. It’s practice. It’s attention. It’s choosing, today, to run the line of code that says generous instead of leaving it dormant.

Biology proved this first: nothing switches on by itself. It switches on because something calls it forward.

So call it forward.

I ask myself which code I’m expressing today. Curious. Complacent. Precise. Angry. Honest. Useful.

I ask you the same.

What’s written in you, waiting for a signal?
