Gratitude is a Practice

by Michael Feeley
Gratitude is more than just a positive feeling—it’s a powerful practice that builds joy, peace, energy, and resilience against life’s challenges. When cultivated intentionally, it becomes a natural part of who you are.
Gratitude can be your first organic thought when you wake up. “Today, I’m grateful for a comfortable bed. I’m thankful for family and friends. I’m grateful for the water and electricity to make fresh coffee or tea. This shift in mindset promotes a positive path forward throughout your day.
Just as you practice a yoga pose to stretch, relax, and build strength and balance, you can do the same with gratitude by creating a daily gratitude practice – first thing in the morning, throughout your day, expressing what you like and are thankful for and then building a gratitude journal where every night before bed you write three sentences about what you are grateful for during your day.
Practice gratitude, and it becomes natural and spontaneous.
The more you practice gratitude, the more you’ll be grateful for.
