Gifting Is a Choice
by Michael Feeley
I’M THINKING ABOUT gifting, doing things for other people without expecting anything in return.
Giving a gift is powerful and seems natural, but gifting is a choice and a commitment.
You do something because you have a strong desire and love to gift. You want to have a good effect on someone, to make them feel happy and cared for, in the present moment and perhaps the future. Doesn’t that make for gratitude and have you and someone else feel good?
Gifting can be as simple as holding a door for someone, shopping for groceries as a person returns home from being away a long time, sending a WhatsApp note to say, “Thank you for your hard work and the many nice things you do.”
Gifting only happens when you take action and give. It’s usually heartfelt, and it changes both the giver and the getter.
What extraordinary work and pleasure gifting is – to feel gratitude and encourage gratitude in others.
Gifting is organic, real generosity – “I see you. You matter. I hope to have a good effect on you.”
What simple gifting can you commit to that will make for change and gratitude in another person and perhaps the world?
There are many new possibilities with 2021.
Thanks – Michael
