Don’t Miss Obvious Gratitude

Don’t Miss Obvious Gratitude

by Michael Feeley July 30, 2020

I’m reminded of Rene Magritte’s painting – “The Son of Man” – The one of a man with a bowler hat and a bright, green apple – right – in – front – of – his – face.

What I’m saying is this: Don’t’ miss your obvious gratitude. See what’s close to you; ever so real and present; the simple, plain and ordinary things in your life and the outside world that are good, pleasing, working well. The things you value… love… and depend on that make for instant gratitude.

Try this right now — sit still for a moment and close your eyes, take a deep breath and release it… now, ask yourself…” What am I grateful for?” Think about it and let the answer come to you.

When you like something, feel alive, proud, happy, relaxed, moved and hundreds of other positive and pleasing thoughts and emotions – that’s gratitude.

Gratitude is organic and unlimited. Test it. See if acknowledging and expressing gratitude makes you feel good in your mind and body and soul. It’s a loving and positive force.

Too often we accent the negative. We complain, gossip, fight in our minds with people, exploding with anger, for no reason, including at the people we love.

Slow yourself down! See what truly matters in your life and treasure it.

Build a gratitude practice and consciously express your thanks and appreciation whenever you can.

Thanks – Michael
