Confidence

by Michael Feeley
Here’s something fascinating: confidence and confidante share the same root—”to have full trust.” But the connection runs deeper than etymology.
True confidence isn’t about feeling superior. It’s that inner knowledge that you are capable—sure of your abilities, goals, and purpose.
And when someone calls you their confidante, it’s not about gossip or secrets. It means they trust you completely. They feel secure and safe with you in every way. That is profound praise—an honoring of who you are as a person.
When others see you as their confidante, it reflects back the very confidence you’re building in yourself.
I have confidence in my skills, life experience, and knowledge. Martha Beck’s wisdom about destiny and following your North Star gives me confidence. Seth Godin, Maria Shriver, Marshall Goldsmith, and Arianna Huffington offer valuable insights into myself and the world. I trust what they know and teach.
AI, my thesaurus, music, and books make me feel strong and confident. So does my work as a writer, author, and career coach.
What makes you confident and unshakeable?
