Compassion and Criticism
by Michael Feeley
When someone is in a tough spot, emotionally or physically, you can bring together compassion and criticism to help them grow, change, and be all they can be.
It is not an easy blend to achieve, and goodwill is essential, which means finding empathy and creating a strategic plan where things continue to work well, bringing together business and heart.
What can the person do and not do? Where do they need help?
The person may not be able to maintain the quality of their work. More care is needed—assistance from others to adjust and support a person’s well-being and responsibilities.
Goodwill means understanding people’s hopes, fears, and needs, being patient and compassionate, offering accurate, kind criticism, and knowing what everyone involved needs.
