Chart Your Dream Idea
by Michael Feeley
YOU HAVE AN idea – a dream to be everything you can be. A desire to change something so things work better.
Maybe the change is about your job or writing a Blog, composing a song in your head, building a charity, giving a gift of some kind. Chart your course. Set the direction of your dream and commit to it.
Armistead Maupin wrote Tales of the City as a steady column for the San Francisco Chronicle, informing people about gay life in San Francisco. Then it became a book (several books) and a TV series. He found his way writing and informing and taking bold, original risks. Some of it caused conflicts, but he kept acting on what he believed in, writing and shipping, and it made an important difference – changing and moving people’s lives with his stories and courage.
Why shouldn’t you do the same thing and make what you think matters? Just like:
Alicia Keys – singer, composer, philanthropist
Martha Beck – life coach and author
Gabe the Base Player – musician and Blogger
Eve Ensler – playwright
Anousheh Ansari – space traveler
Jon Morrow – writer/Smart Blogger
Are these people standing still in the wings? Hiding and keeping their ideas to themselves? Waiting to be discovered and appreciated? No. They’re working! Standing up and taking responsibility. Promoting themselves and saying – ‘This is who I am. This is what I think and why. This is what I’ve made for you.’
That’s the opportunity we all have – to create and do work we’re proud of.
Could you show us your idea? Act on it. Please make what you dream about and put it into the world. Day after day. See the difference
you can make for a better world.
