Your Work Matters
by Michael Feeley
SOMETIMES WE HAVE a job we hate, and we do it to make money and pay our bills.
That’s why the work matters, and if you go a bit deeper, you’ll see that the work you dislike helps other people in some positive and meaningful way.
> Your work matters to others.
> Your work is kind.
> Your work helps someone like the world more and live better.
Knowing how your work has a good effect on others – knowing the facts and the truth about your job – can also inspire you to show up with positive energy and purpose, making your difficult job easier and more rewarding.
Maybe you clean public toilets – pick up trash – unload and deliver heavy cargo – cold call people to buy a product – open a bank door for customers all day – wait tables – sweep streets.
> How does your work make a difference to people?
> Why do other people trust and count on you?
> How do others benefit from your demanding job?
Keep focusing on the fact that your work matters and you make a difference in this job and the world.
