Your Work Can Change People
by Michael Feeley
WE WORK TO make a living.
We work to express ourselves.
We work to make other people happy.
We work to create change.
And the most profound work has emotional labor for another person – your genuine desire to understand what someone else (a customer, your audience) feels and thinks and wants.
> How do your hot coffee and fresh-baked croissant make someone’s life better off?
> How does a taxi ride from the airport to your hotel or home make you feel?
> How does picking up your dry cleaning, getting a haircut, having Amazon gifts delivered right to your front door add to you?
Every day you have the opportunity to put your whole heart and mind into your work and change another human being
for the better.
Or – you can be a cog, going through generic job motions, coasting, wasting, faking away, not caring at all… not caring… not…
Thanks – Michael
