Your Best
by Michael Feeley
Every day, we are presented with a profound opportunity to embrace our unique selves and to contribute to something greater than us—the world around us, including the work we immerse ourselves in. This journey of self-discovery is not just a step; it’s a leap in our pursuit of passion and excellence in living our best lives and giving out our best work.
Our ability to empathize with others is a powerful choice in our creative process. By stepping away from our egos and self-interest, we can create art that resonates with our audience. We use our entire being—mind, body, heart, and spirit—to be daringly original and the best version of ourselves in our artful services and products.
As an actor and singer I loved performing and connecting with people. I gave it my best, hoping my work and unique interpretation of words and music would move an audience. I owed people that.
Later in my career, as a headhunter, I helped people find work that enabled them to make a living, express themselves, and be at their best.
As a career and life coach, I do the same: assist people in creating change and understanding their individual best in diverse ways.
Your best is your original brand of best. Your best is not Gloria Steinem’s, Oprah’s, Chip Conley’s, Simon Sinek’s, Martha Beck’s, or my best. It’s what makes you a rock star, a champion, a superhero. Only you are you, and that is an honor.
Reach for what you want because you can. Your best is not just valuable; it’s essential. All your skills and training, talents, gifts, knowledge, life experience, passions, dreams, and heart are not just useful; they’re necessary. Don’t be an imitation of anyone else. Be the real you. The world eagerly awaits your unique contribution and goodness. Please do not keep people waiting.
