Where is Glory for You?

by Michael Feeley
Glory is a powerful word. It can sound grand, something people actively pursue, and at the same time, I’m looking at it in a personal way. A quiet moment of recognition in an everyday way.
Glory can be timeless. It can be notable achievements, high renown, monumental, magnificence, great beauty, and something intimate that we take great pride and pleasure in.
Glory in having freedom.
The glory of a sunset.
A parent watching a child succeed.
Someone overcoming a challenge.
A community celebration.
Athletic victories.
Career milestones.
A relationship that came through difficult times.
Mastering a skill.
There is a beautiful shift from “glory” as something to achieve to “glorious” as a way of experiencing what you already have.
When you describe your life as glorious – superb, splendid – there’s something wonderful about that perspective. It’s not about waiting for big moments of recognition or accomplishment, but about recognizing the magnificence that’s woven into your actual daily experience.
I feel glory in my work as a career and life coach, helping people achieve their goals.
Glory in writing a book and seeing how it connects with people.
Glory in my 30-year relationship with my partner.
Where is your life glorious? Perhaps something you haven’t noticed enough, which feels more immediate and accessible. A glorious morning coffee, a glorious conversation with a friend, the glorious feeling of being exactly where you belong.
There is gloriousness in all our lives that is waiting to be acknowledged.
What happens when you start seeing the gloriousness? Does it change how you move through the world? Your gratitude? Your presence?
