What’s an Achievable Plan?
by Michael Feeley
Creating an achievable plan to meet a goal is deeply satisfying.
What do I mean by an achievable plan?
It’s doable for you.
It includes setting realistic outer and inner goals that work together so you do not feel pressure or disappointment because true success comes from within.
You can decide what is minimally and ideally acceptable, and this can include a middle ground for stretching yourself.
Reasonable is a guide. How reasonable is the plan that you will be able to come through and be successful?
Time is crucial for planning how and when to complete your first step or task.
If you’re writing a book with an editor and you agree to meet every two weeks, at the same time for one hour, to write every day, six days a week, for one or more hours on the text, to have 8 – 10 pages of an introduction double spaced in 12-point font, ready and sent to the editor to review two days before your scheduled meeting, then you have your plan, process, and deadline.
I thrive on this kind of creative order, commitment, and freedom.
I get to work with another person, not alone. I count on myself, the editor counts on me, and I’m set to never miss a deadline.
How do you like to work, and what process helps you to meet your deadlines?
