Vulnerable Is Strong
by Michael Feeley
Fear makes us feel vulnerable, and vulnerability can seem like weakness and a lack of self-confidence and control, as when we fear we are not good enough.
What if you reframed vulnerability as a powerful tool for change? Seeing it as an open door of possibility can inspire you to move forward without being immobile in personal and often inaccurate doubt.
Vulnerability is a space where you can appreciate your self-worth without hiding the facts of your goodness and feel secure in your own skin.
The strength of vulnerability is emotional openness, your ability to express what you feel to others, your willingness to take risks, and your choice to be courageous and show just how good and capable you are.
Vulnerability is the empowering shift in mindset from inadequate to adequate – ample – acceptable – sufficient – relevant – a glorious work in progress, which is the opposite of lacking and feeling deficient.
At the heart of vulnerability is trust—trust in your capabilities and worth, trust in the world to support and empower you, and trust in others.
Accept your vulnerability. Sit with it. Please get to know what it is about and where it comes from. Perhaps something in your past, a person, or an incident triggers the feeling of not being good enough and in marches vulnerability.
It’s okay to have doubts and fears and feel pain in questioning oneself. You can counter this with self-kindness and unconditional self-love by showing up as your authentic self, as you know your ‘self’ to be today, living the confidence and truth of vulnerability which knows and says… “This is Who I Am.”
Why not see vulnerability as a superpower? The strength and wisdom of vulnerability are an asset and advantage for you. It’s a gift to step up, not to retreat and unravel. It includes gratitude as you pursue your dreams and share your passions.
What if being at your most vulnerable is where you have some of your greatest strengths, skills, values, and meaning?
