The Week In-Between
by Michael Feeley
Stop for a moment. Notice where you are. These seven days between Christmas and New Year’s—you’re in them right now.
This week lives in a curious space—neither here nor there. Christmas decorations still glow, but the new year waits just ahead. We’re suspended between what was and what’s coming.
Some people call it downtime. It’s a time of wonder and an opportunity to know yourself better. To connect with what you want.
This week isn’t about waiting. It’s about noticing—actively, intentionally.
These days offer something rare: permission to pause without guilt. We’re collectively catching our breath. The world expects less. Emails slow. Obligations ease.
Pause now. You have permission.
Here, in this in-between space, sit with questions we typically avoid:
What actually mattered this year?
What am I proud of?
What am I grateful for?
Where could I do better?
What do I regret and can learn from?
What do I want to complete?
What am I ready to begin?
Past, present, future—they’re all here, visible in one week.
Some threads from last year remain unfinished. That’s not failure; that’s reality. Other beginnings are already forming, even if we haven’t named them yet.
This week isn’t wasted time. It’s noticing time.
Relaxing counts. Catching up counts. Thinking counts. Enjoying absolutely counts.
The question isn’t should you be doing something.
It’s: What are these seven days telling you?
