Singular Abundance: The Sagers True Self
by Michael Feeley
There is a term for what the world wants to make of you at a certain age. Generic geriatric.
A category. A condition. A blur. All your particular years averaged out and filed away. You become interchangeable. One of many. Managed rather than met.
You are not old in the way they mean it. You are not outmoded. You are not a condition to be manipulated or a model that has been superseded. There is no newer version of you. There is only the continued, deepening, specific, extraordinary original.
We Sagers refuse the blur.
You are one person. Individual. Unrepeatable. And you are also a vast accumulation of skills, expertise, experience, credentials, hard-won wisdom, successes that shaped you, and failures that taught you more. You carry decades of living that no one else on earth has lived in exactly your way.
That is not diminishment. That is Singular Abundance.
Stop and take the count. Really take it. Not as an exercise in nostalgia. As an act of honest reckoning.
– What do you actually hold?
– What have you built, survived, mastered, and rebuilt, and still produce with generosity?
– What can you do now at 50, 60, 70, 80?
– What are you proudest of in your entire life?
The list is always longer and more gratifying than you think.
Vintage thinking insists on the particular. It refuses to mash the years together into one undifferentiated mass. Your life is not a category. It is a particular, accumulated, still-unfolding story. Vintage holds the details. Vintage holds you.
The Sagers will and desire, the force that drives a life forward, does not have to drain away. In the Vintage life it flows. It floods with singular abundance.
You choose, every day, to rejuvenate. Mind. Body. Spirit. That choice is not desperate. It is not defiant. It is wise. Gallant.
Age does not have to be a state of disorder and loss. Age does not create shambles. Abandonment does. You can walk away from yourself at 30 or at 75. The ruin is never the age. It is the surrender. Giving in.
Do not surrender.
You are a Sager. You hold a Singular Abundance that grows more precise, more particular, more extraordinary with every day you choose to live it fully.
Generic geriatric is what happens when you stop valuing what you hold.
Singular Abundance is what you are when you don’t.
That is your True Self.
