Service Matters or It Doesn’t
by Michael Feeley
SERVICE IS A way of living and giving.
Service makes a difference.
You choose to offer the best care you can to people or to do as little as possible and slip by.
Service is a skill, and it can be learned and practiced.
How you serve people is your brand; it goes for your team – the people on the front lines doing the work.
The people you surround yourself with represent you. They are your name to your clients. They live the quality of your work. They make change happen for customers.
Repairing a dryer – installing a new pool pump – delivering water and fans to guests at your vacation rental property when the weather is oppressively hot – handwriting a thank you note – putting air in a front tire at 8 p.m. so you can start to work early without frustration.
Choices to serve where you earn people’s respect – earn your client’s business and trust, and then re-earn it every single day – over and over and over.
The same is true and equally crucial for the people you hire to work with.
People see your commitment. They watch how you show up, your care for details, the thought you put into the needs of people, and how you get results and keep your promises.
Service matters, or it doesn’t.
Helping people and making them happy matters, or it doesn’t.
