Respect for Life and Death

Respect for Life and Death

by Michael Feeley June 29, 2021

WHEN A GARDEN goes to seed, because the seasons change from Summer… to Fall… to Winter… there’s a natural dying back as the plants lose their leaves and begin to retreat into the earth to hibernate and regenerate.

There’s organic acceptance and respect for the process of life and death and we can assist nature with this change by
cutting back the plants, preparing the ground for another season in the Spring… both the same and different.

The change process happens to nearly everything – the weather, relationships, jobs, relocating, learning new skills, and
our very selves as we mature.

> In life and death, a deep admiration for people and things is essential.

> Make the choice to honor the wholeness and integrity of one another.

> Help to build and maintain an atmosphere of kindness and peace and profound regard for the feelings of others, their hopes and wishes, and rights.

Ansel Adams, American landscape photographer, and environmentalist, powerfully expresses this in his art and words:

“I respect everything in change and the solemn beauty of life and death…”
