Play with the Universe

by Michael Feeley
We are connected to the universe – the world – reality – in unlimited ways.
Some of those ways are playful, where we are deeply expressed, calm, energized, and joyful, where time seems to stand still, slowing down and not concerning us too much. There is hardly any stress, fear, worry, or anxiety.
These moments happen when you do the things you like and love. The things you are meant to do with your life here on earth – hobbies, specific work, your job, and career.
Maybe writing a Daily blog, preparing questions for interviewing people on your podcast, gardening, balancing your books at the end of the month, finding people work, coaching, organizing your desk or home, caring for other people, teaching yoga at the beach, walking in nature, offering service where you help people solve questions.
Where is there a special deep connection where you’re at play, feel peaceful, and excited – happily one with reality? Curious and creative? Resilient. Renewed. Most yourself. Truly expressed, and always look forward to the activity of you and reality playing together?
One place that stands out to me, besides coaching people on their lives and careers, is the garden—an abundance of plants growing and blooming. Change is happening. Growth is there. Gratitude. Colors, diversity, and similarity. Large and small. One and many. Containment and expansion.
I get to care for the world through a variety of plants. The roses tell me when it’s time to prune their spent blossoms, the wilting morning glories signal me when they need water, the earth shows me when it needs natural fertilizers for healthy plants, and all the while I get to marvel at the world’s gorgeousness.
The world is playing with me, and I am playing with the world. We are one. We are in a conversation and a dance.
Even in this troubled and confusing world, there are places where each of us finds the world to be playful, sensible, kind, beautiful, healthy, and profoundly encouraging to our spirit.
I don’t wish to ignore life’s challenges, but rather to acknowledge and celebrate what can be appreciated. The genuine moments of flow and connection. Energy and peace.
Where do you and the universe play together?
What are you doing when it’s you and the world, the world and you agreeing and being partners?
