No Can Be Gratifying

by Michael Feeley
I like to connect with people. I read a book they wrote or a blog post, listen to a podcast, and I’m inspired to thank them, so I search for an email address on a website or social media platform. I find it. I write a message and hit ‘submit.’
Sometimes there’s no answer. That’s okay. Even in the silence, the unknown holds hope.
I feel joy in supporting, helping, and learning from people and things, validating that they and their work matter to me.
Recently, I’ve been asking people to endorse my new book – The Next Act – and received some of the most generous, respectful, kind, inspiring words, and encouragement, as well as turn-down messages.
It’s surprising how meaningful and gratifying a professional ‘no… sorry, I cannot help at this time… wishing you success…’ can be.
Thanks – Michael (he, him)
