Keep Your Word
by Michael Feeley
A young solopreneur asked me – What’s your favorite marketing tool?
I said:
Keep your word.
Show up on time.
Be creative.
Be consistent.
Listen to your clients.
Have empathy.
Be a human being, not a robot reading from a script.
Pick up the phone and ditch the recording – “Please Hold. Your call is important to us.”
If things come up, call people and communicate.
Solve people’s problems.
Be professional and discover what that means to you and your client’s expectations.
Be discerning with whom you work.
Don’t pander to the masses.
Don’t sell yourself out.
Stick to your prices and the results you offer.
If you say your service is top-notch, prove it.
Build trust.
Be grateful to people and the work you do.
