Justice is Always Working
by Michael Feeley
SOMETIMES WE BELIEVE that people get away with things – that they’re above the law – that there is no justice.
It’s not true. Justice is always working, and it repays you if you are not ethical, harming your mind, body, and spirit.
People make choices for or against justice and truth. They know what they are doing and live with their honor or crimes.
We each have a conscience and reason, and because we are all part of humanity, our words and actions will affect others.
If you’re a guest in another country, an expat visiting, or a student studying, how you live and work should be with gratitude and goodwill, not selfishness and illicit actions. Show respect to the culture you’re living in. Pay your bills. Don’t intimidate and degrade people who live and work differently than you do.
Here are three people commenting about personal justice:
1. “At his best, man is the noblest of all animals; separated from law and justice, he is the worst.” – Aristotle
2. “It is not what a lawyer tells me I may do; but what humanity, reason, and justice tell me I ought to do.” – Edmund Burke
3. “There is a higher court than courts of justice, and that is the court of conscience. It supersedes all other courts.”
– Mahatma Gandhi
