How Much Do Truth and Honor Matter?
by Michael Feeley
I WON A LAWSUIT with a client who said we didn’t have a contract and he would not pay my fees.
I had the proof, hired a lawyer, and went to court. It took too much time and money, but what an education I received about the legal system – process – choices – greed – lies – intentional cruelty – and the desire (in my client and myself) to win.
I was naïve and thought this would be easy because the truth was crystal clear.
At the end, after continuously trying to ruin my name and business for over a year, my client contacted me to see
if I would give him a break and take less money than the court awarded me.
People certainly are surprising.
What is valuable here is understanding:
> How a person sees the world.
> How a person makes choices to live life.
> How a person chooses to treat another human being.
> What effect does manipulating truth have on any person’s mind and body?
> What is honor, and how much does integrity matter?
I’m comparing my choices to my client’s choices.
